Qipao (also named as chipao, cheongsam or mandarin gown) refers to the traditional style dress for Chinese women. It was originated from the Manchuria female dress and developed in 1920s Shanghai. Shanghai movie stars and upper class women created the fashion of modern Qipao, which continues to nowadays. The dress is often very tight to shape the female figure. It also has a high cut on the sides to require women walking slowly and elegantly.
